On his arrival in the civil secretariat, this morning, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, as per the details obtained by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), received a Guard of Honour from a contingent of the Jammu and Kashmir Police on the occasion.

The Durbar Move is the biannual shifting of the Civil Secretariat and other government offices between Srinagar, the summer capital, and Jammu, the winter capital. From May to October, these offices function from Srinagar, while during the winter months they operate from Jammu.

The practice was introduced in 1872 by Maharaja Ranbir Singh and has remained a distinctive feature of Jammu and Kashmir’s administrative system—(KNO)
