Jammu: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday highlighted his government’s development and governance initiatives across Jammu and Kashmir, saying the administration had maintained a focus on public outreach, infrastructure development and delivery of essential services during the year.
In a post on the official handle of the Office of the Chief Minister, Abdullah said government offices would reopen in Jammu on Monday following the annual Darbar Move and described the year so far as one marked by efforts towards responsive, inclusive and people-centric governance.
He said he had travelled extensively across the Union Territory, visiting remote villages, towns and urban centres to interact with residents and listen to their concerns. According to the post, these interactions had helped shape the government’s priorities and identify issues requiring administrative attention.
The Chief Minister said the government’s focus areas included improvement of road connectivity, safe drinking water, reliable electricity supply, environmental protection, healthcare, education, skill development, sports and modern public infrastructure.
Listing major initiatives, Abdullah referred to the proposed modern solid waste management facility at Achan in Srinagar, a mega water supply scheme in Udhampur and the establishment of new industrial estates across Jammu and Kashmir.
He also mentioned the development of Tawi Wonderland, the proposed Unity Malls and the inaugural International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir as initiatives aimed at strengthening infrastructure, promoting economic opportunities and expanding public services.
The Chief Minister said the government was pursuing development through regular field visits and engagement with people, with an emphasis on ensuring that different regions and sections of society benefited from government programmes.
He expressed the government’s commitment to building an inclusive and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir, where development reaches both remote and urban areas.
With offices reopening in Jammu on Monday, the seasonal transition of the administration to the winter capital will resume.
