Pulwama: Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Kuldeep Krishan Sidha on Sunday directed strict action against employees found absent from duty during a surprise inspection of Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Pampore, where only one doctor was present when he visited the facility.

The inspection was conducted to assess the functioning of the hospital, attendance of medical and other staff and availability of healthcare services for patients.

Taking serious note of the staff shortage during the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner ordered action against the employees found absent from duty. He also held the Block Medical Officer (BMO), Pampore, accountable for ensuring regular attendance of staff and proper functioning of the hospital.

Sidha stressed that healthcare institutions must remain functional and accessible to the public, particularly given their responsibility to provide essential medical services. He said punctuality, adherence to duty schedules and uninterrupted delivery of healthcare services were mandatory for all employees.

The Deputy Commissioner warned that negligence in public service delivery, especially in the healthcare sector, would not be tolerated and that strict action would be initiated against officials found shirking their assigned responsibilities.

He directed the concerned authorities to ensure accountability and improve the functioning of the hospital so that patients do not face inconvenience due to staff absenteeism.
