SRINAGAR: Police in Kulgam have arrested an absconder Tariq Ahmad Ganie of Hassanpora Bagh, Qaimoh, in connection with a murder case registered at Police Station Kulgam in the year 2006.
A police spokesman informed that on September 7, 2006, a written application was received at Police Station Kulgam from Mohammad Maqbool Ganie of Hassanpora Bagh, Qaimoh, alleging that during an altercation, the accused struck his daughter on the head with a stick, resulting in her death on the spot.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 222/2006 under Section 302 RPC was registered, and investigation was taken up.
During the course of proceedings, the accused absconded, following which the Court of Sessions Judge, Kulgam, issued an arrest warrant against him.
Acting on the warrant, a police team from Police Station Kulgam apprehended the accused and produced him before the court for further legal proceedings, police spokesman said.
