BUDGAM: Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather on Saturday inaugurated a 5-km Kutbal-Yousmarg road, improving connectivity between dozens of villages and the popular tourist destination of Yousmarg in Budgam district.
Rather, who is also the MLA from Charar-i-Sharief, said improved road infrastructure was essential for equitable development, access to essential services and tapping the tourism and economic potential of rural and remote areas.
The newly inaugurated road is expected to facilitate the movement of residents and visitors while providing a boost to tourism-related activities and creating livelihood opportunities for local youth.
Rather directed the concerned authorities to address connectivity-related issues and ensure timely completion of road projects while maintaining prescribed quality standards. He stressed that development initiatives should translate into tangible benefits for people, particularly those living in far-flung areas.
Residents welcomed the inauguration, saying the road had been a long-pending demand of dozens of villages. They said improved connectivity with Yousmarg would open up opportunities in tourism, trade and employment.
