SRINAGAR: Srinagar International Airport has withdrawn restrictions limiting flight operations to 8 am to 5 pm, paving the way for late-evening services ahead of the winter schedule that comes into effect on October 25.
An airport official told Kashmir News Observer that flight operations could now be planned in accordance with the applicable schedule and operational requirements.
Airlines are in the process of filing slots for late-evening flights to and from Srinagar, which are expected to provide greater flexibility to passengers and improve air connectivity during the winter season, the official said.
The revised operational arrangements come as the airport transitions to the Winter Schedule 2026. However, flights beyond 5 pm will remain subject to the approved schedule and operational requirements.
The airport had been operating within the 8 am to 5 pm window amid runway maintenance work. In July, authorities withdrew a proposal to close the runway entirely on Mondays and Tuesdays, allowing flights to operate throughout the week, while restricted operating hours and night-time runway maintenance remained in place.
The withdrawal of the time restriction is expected to give airlines greater flexibility in planning services, including late-evening flights, subject to operational feasibility.
