JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Vikas Kundal on Monday flagged off a Jammu–Basohli bike ride from the Tawi Riverfront to promote tourism, cultural heritage and a drug-free society as part of Basohli Utsav 2026.
Around 30 bikers began the ride from Jammu, with more participants expected to join the convoy along the route, Kundal said. The riders are also carrying the national flag.
Kundal said the initiative would help showcase Basohli’s cultural traditions, artistic heritage and scenic landscapes while encouraging more visitors to explore the region.
Emphasising the role of young people in nation-building, he urged youth to stay away from drugs and other social evils and channel their energy towards sports and constructive activities.
He said such initiatives could boost tourism in Jammu and Basohli and support the local economy by drawing attention to the region’s natural beauty and cultural attractions.
The bike ride is among the activities being organised during Basohli Utsav 2026, scheduled from October 19 to 21, to highlight the region’s cultural identity and tourism potential.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu Ansuya Jamwal and other officials were present at the flag-off ceremony.
