Srinagar: A two-day Special Intensive Voter Enrolment Drive concluded across Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, with election officials facilitating voter registration, corrections to electoral records and grievance redressal at polling stations across the Union Territory.
Conducted on October 10 and 11 from 9 am to 5 pm, the drive aimed to ensure that all eligible citizens, including young and first-time voters, could register and access electoral services.
The exercise was conducted under the supervision of Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, Sanjeev Verma, with district election officials and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) coordinating the arrangements and assisting electors.
Officials provided guidance on Forms 6, 7 and 8, used for voter enrolment, deletion of names and correction or updation of electoral particulars, respectively. Citizens were also assisted in accessing digital services through the Voter Helpline App.
The drive included door-to-door outreach and inspections by election officials to identify eligible voters and encourage them to enrol. Election functionaries also addressed queries and grievances raised by residents and shared contact details of concerned officials to facilitate further assistance.
Salam Din, Deputy Director Information and nodal officer for the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, interacted with the media during the drive and highlighted the importance of voter awareness and accessible registration facilities.
The Election Department said eligible citizens could continue to apply for inclusion of their names in electoral rolls through the concerned Electoral Registration Officer under the continuous updation process.
It said voter facilitation camps and similar exercises would continue to improve access to electoral services and ensure comprehensive electoral rolls across Jammu and Kashmir.
