Akhnoor: Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma on Sunday said the party would hold the National Conference-led government accountable for its electoral promises and performance on public issues.
Sharma made the remarks while addressing an organisational meeting of the BJP’s Akhnoor district unit, accompanied by MLA Mohan Lal Bhagat. The meeting was chaired by district president Kuldeep Raj Sharma at the party office in Akhnoor.
Sharma alleged that there was a gap between the government’s electoral commitments and conditions on the ground, and said the BJP would raise issues affecting people’s daily lives and welfare.
He directed party functionaries to strengthen booth-level teams, improve coordination among organisational units and expand public outreach across villages and households. He also called for regular reviews of ongoing activities and clearer responsibilities for upcoming programmes.
MLA Mohan Lal Bhagat said party workers and public representatives should remain accessible to residents and raise local grievances on appropriate platforms. He assured that issues brought to his notice by party workers would be raised in the Legislative Assembly. He also urged workers to highlight the initiatives of the Narendra Modi-led government and help eligible beneficiaries access central welfare schemes.
Kuldeep Raj Sharma said the Akhnoor unit would focus on strengthening its organisational network and mobilising workers for upcoming programmes, while emphasising regular public contact and coordination.
The meeting also reviewed the prevailing political situation, ongoing party activities and the organisational action plan.
District in-charge Vinay Gupta, co-in-charge Vaishno Devi, former district development council member Bhushan Bral, former block development council member Sushma Sharma, mandal presidents and other senior party leaders attended the meeting.
