Srinagar: Light snowfall was reported in the higher reaches of Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday as the Meteorological Department forecast another spell of rain and snow across Jammu and Kashmir on October 13 and 14.

The fresh snowfall brought colder conditions to the upper reaches of the tourist resort, where cloudy weather prevailed. Temperatures are expected to decline further during the upcoming wet spell, particularly in higher-altitude areas.

According to the forecast, cloudy conditions with occasional rain are likely on October 11, while brief afternoon showers may occur on October 12. The wet spell on October 13 and 14 could bring light to moderate rainfall to several areas, with fresh snowfall over higher elevations. Intermittent showers may continue on October 15 and 16 before conditions improve.

The MeT has forecast generally dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir from October 17 to 22.

The anticipated precipitation comes as apple harvesting and transportation are underway across Kashmir. Farmers and orchardists have been advised to remain cautious during spells of rain and gusty winds and ensure the safe storage of harvested produce.

Residents, tourists and people travelling to higher-altitude areas have been advised to follow updated weather forecasts, particularly during the expected wet spell next week.
