SHOPIAN: The Sedow school team emerged victorious in a girls badminton tournament organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Sedow, under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2026-27.
The tournament saw participation from teams representing various schools in the district, with students competing in a series of matches aimed at promoting sports and youth engagement among girls.
In the final, Sedow defeated Heerpora after a closely contested match in which both teams displayed strong performances and sportsmanship.
Police said the event was organised as part of efforts to encourage constructive activities among young people and provide a platform for girls to showcase their sporting talent.
The concluding ceremony was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shopian Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary, Deputy Superintendent of Police Headquarters Shopian, Station House Officer of Police Station Heerpora and Chief Education Officer Shopian.
Cash prizes and certificates were awarded to the winning team, while mementoes were presented to participating teams and players in recognition of their performance and participation. Officials also encouraged students to continue pursuing sports while upholding discipline, teamwork and fair play.
