SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness light snowfall in higher reaches and scattered rainfall across parts of the Union Territory between October 6 and 10, the Meteorological Centre said on Monday.
According to the weather forecast, thunderstorms, gusty winds and intermittent rain are expected during the period. The department advised farmers and orchardists to ensure safe storage of apples and paddy in view of the anticipated weather conditions.
The Meteorological Centre said weather is likely to remain partly cloudy from October 11 to 15.
Meanwhile, temperatures continued to remain above normal across several parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 30.8 degrees Celsius, 5.3 degrees above normal, while the minimum settled at 12.3 degrees Celsius, 3.3 degrees above normal.
Qazigund registered a maximum temperature of 31 degrees Celsius, which was 6.9 degrees above normal, and a minimum of 10.2 degrees Celsius.
Pahalgam recorded a maximum of 26.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 7.4 degrees Celsius, while Gulmarg recorded 23 degrees Celsius and 9 degrees Celsius, respectively.
In Jammu, the maximum temperature settled at 33 degrees Celsius, 0.6 degrees above normal, while the minimum was recorded at 23 degrees Celsius, 2.1 degrees above normal.
The weather department said no rainfall was recorded at the reporting stations during the period.
