NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated Indian golfers Aditi Ashok, Pranavi Sharath Urs and Diksha Dagar for winning the silver medal in the women’s team golf event at the Asian Games 2026, and wrestler Antim Panghal for securing silver in the women’s 53 kg freestyle category.
In separate messages shared through the Prime Minister’s Office on X, Modi praised the performances of the athletes and wished them continued success.
Congratulating the women’s golf team, the Prime Minister said their achievement reflected their determination and passion for the sport. He expressed confidence that Aditi, Pranavi and Diksha would continue to scale new heights in their careers.
The Prime Minister also lauded Antim Panghal for her silver-medal-winning performance in the women’s 53 kg freestyle wrestling event, describing it as exemplary. He said her achievement would inspire other athletes and hoped she would continue bringing laurels to the country.
India has secured a series of medals across disciplines at the ongoing Asian Games 2026, with athletes competing in events including golf and wrestling.
IGU announces Rs l0 lakh for Pranavi Urs
The Indian Golf Union (IGU) on Sunday announced Rs 10 lakh cash award for Pranavi Urs, the country’s first-ever women’s individual gold medallist in the Asian Games.
Pranavi is the third Indian golfer after Lakshman Singh (1982 Delhi) and Shiv Kapur (2002 Busan) to win an individual golf gold at the continental sports extravaganza.
Members of the Indian golf team, which won a silver at the Asian Games, will receive Rs three lakh each.
Apart from Pranavi, the team had Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar in its ranks.
“Heartiest congratulations to Pranavi on her magnificent gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games. Winning gold at the Asian Games is a tremendous achievement and a reflection of her talent, hard work, determination and commitment to the sport.
“We are extremely proud of her and wish her continued success in the years ahead,” IGU President Brijinder Singh said.
