Srinagar/Jammu: Senior security officials on Saturday reviewed the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness across Jammu and Kashmir, with Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma chairing a high-level coordination meeting in Srinagar, CRPF Director General G.P. Singh inspecting formations in Jammu and Udhampur, and White Knight Corps Commander Lt Gen Mohit Seth visiting forward posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district.
In Srinagar, Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma chaired a comprehensive security review and coordination meeting to assess the prevailing security situation, operational preparedness and inter-agency coordination mechanisms.
According to officials, the meeting reviewed security inputs and measures aimed at strengthening operational readiness and response capabilities. The Army Commander emphasised enhanced synergy among security agencies, real-time intelligence sharing and integrated coordination to improve the effectiveness of joint operations and ensure swift responses to emerging challenges.
Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Inspector General of Police Kashmir Sujit Kumar and senior officers from various security agencies attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, CRPF Director General G.P. Singh visited the Jammu sector and reviewed the security scenario and operational preparedness of personnel deployed on the ground.
Officials said the CRPF chief visited Group Centre Bantalab in Jammu and the headquarters of the 187 Battalion in Udhampur, where he was briefed by senior officers on security deployments and ongoing operations.
During his visit to Group Centre Bantalab, Singh inspected the site of a multipurpose hall along with the Special Director General, J&K Zone, and the Inspector General, Jammu Sector. He directed officials to expedite the project for its timely completion. The facility is expected to cater to the needs of serving and retired CRPF personnel posted or settled in Jammu.
At Udhampur, the CRPF chief was presented a Guard of Honour before reviewing key unit facilities and interacting with personnel. He also felicitated awardees and commended troops for their services during the annual Amarnath Yatra in an investiture ceremony-cum-interaction session.
The DG stressed the importance of mental and physical fitness, professionalism and integrity while addressing personnel and later held an informal interaction with troops.
In Poonch district, General Officer Commanding (GOC) White Knight Corps Lt Gen Mohit Seth visited forward posts in the Poonch and Krishna Ghati sectors along the LoC, his first such visit after assuming command two days ago.
Accompanied by the GOC Ace of Spades Division, Lt Gen Seth reviewed the operational preparedness of troops deployed in the forward areas. He was briefed on the prevailing security environment, counter-infiltration measures, surveillance architecture and initiatives aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness.
Commending the troops for their commitment and operational performance, the Corps Commander urged all ranks to maintain the highest standards of vigilance, readiness and responsiveness in safeguarding the frontier.
