CEO directs enrolment drive for left-out, first-time voters

Srinagar: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Jammu and Kashmir, Sanjeev Verma, on Thursday directed election officials to intensify efforts for enrolling left-out and first-time eligible voters under the ongoing process of continuous updation of electoral rolls.

Chairing a meeting with District Election Officers (DEOs) and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Verma stressed the need to identify and register all eligible citizens, particularly those who have recently attained the qualifying age for voter registration.

He directed Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to conduct house-to-house visits and remain accessible to voters requiring assistance with enrolment and related forms. Officials were also asked to facilitate the proper filling and submission of forms, especially in cases where electors face difficulties during the registration process.

The CEO emphasised that no eligible voter should be left out of the electoral roll and reiterated the Election Department’s focus on maintaining an accurate and inclusive voter database.
