Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness the season’s first significant spell of rain and snowfall between October 8 and 11 under the influence of a strong Western Disturbance, according to a weather forecast.
The forecast said weather conditions are expected to remain largely dry across the Union Territory until October 5, with a possible change from October 8. Snowfall is expected mainly over higher reaches, while rain may occur in plains and lower-lying areas.
However, it noted that the assessment is preliminary and the timing and intensity of the weather system could change as it approaches the region.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir, with no rainfall recorded at the monitored stations during the observation period.
According to official data, Jammu was the hottest place in the Union Territory at 32.6°C, while Pahalgam recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 6°C.
