NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated India’s women’s compound archery team and trap mixed team shooters for winning gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister hailed archers Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep and Chikitha Taniparthi for clinching the gold medal in the Women’s Compound Team event.
Modi noted that the trio’s performance also equalled the world record, describing the achievement as a significant milestone for Indian archery. He extended his best wishes to the team for future competitions.
The Prime Minister also congratulated shooters Neeru and Kynan Chenai for securing the gold medal in the Trap Mixed Team event.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Indian pair set a new Asian record in the final and won India’s first-ever Asian Games gold medal in the event.
Describing it as a memorable achievement for Indian shooting, Modi commended both athletes and wished them success in their future endeavours.
