SRINAGAR: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports, and Science and Technology, Satish Sharma on Monday met several delegations in Srinagar and discussed issues related to youth welfare, sports, employment, transport and public service delivery.
According to officials, the delegations represented various groups, associations and sections of the public and raised concerns relating to sports infrastructure, youth opportunities, livelihood and employment, transport facilities, food and public distribution services, information technology and other public issues.
The minister heard the grievances and demands put forth by the delegations and assured them that matters requiring government intervention would be examined and addressed on priority.
Sharma directed concerned officials to review issues falling within their respective jurisdictions and take necessary action wherever required.
Youth development and sports infrastructure figured prominently during the interactions, with several delegations seeking improved facilities and greater opportunities for young people.
The minister said the government was focused on expanding opportunities for youth through sports, skill development, employment and entrepreneurship initiatives. He also stressed the importance of strengthening sports infrastructure and supporting emerging talent.
Issues relating to transport services and delivery of public services were also discussed during the meetings. Sharma directed the concerned authorities to examine the matters raised and process them in accordance with departmental procedures.
The minister also highlighted the role of information technology and science and technology in improving governance and public service delivery. He said technology-driven initiatives could help make government services more accessible and efficient while creating opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Officials said the minister reiterated the government’s commitment to continued engagement with stakeholders on issues related to youth development, sports, transport, consumer affairs and technology-based governance.
