BASOHLI: Several prominent cartoonists from across the country will participate in Basohli Utsav 2026, scheduled to be held from October 19 to 21 in Kathua district, organisers said.
The festival’s cartoon segment will feature artists including Sagar Kumar from Chhattisgarh, Subhani from Telangana, Manoj Kuril and Madhav Joshi, along with cartoonists from Jammu and Kashmir such as Manoj Chopra, Chander Shekhar and Shah Tariq.
According to organisers, the participating artists will conduct live cartoon-making sessions, workshops and exhibitions during the three-day event.
Visitors, particularly children and aspiring artists, will have an opportunity to observe professional cartoonists at work and learn basic cartooning techniques through interactive sessions.
A special exhibition will showcase cartoons centred on social themes such as Swachh Bharat, anti-drug awareness and road safety. Organisers said the artworks would use humour and visual storytelling to convey public awareness messages.
One of the key attractions of the festival will be an outdoor cartoon exhibition, with artworks displayed in open public spaces rather than conventional galleries.
Organisers said the participation of artists from different states, alongside local cartoonists, would add a creative dimension to the festival and provide a platform for artistic exchange, public engagement and cultural interaction.
