SRINAGAR: Police have arrested a Physical Education Teacher (PET) for allegedly sexually harassing a 15-year-old girl in the Aripal area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
According to police, a written complaint was received at Police Post Aripal on September 24 alleging that Bilal Ahmad Lone, son of Ghulam Nabi Lone, a resident of Darganigund and posted as a PET at Government High School Lam, Aripal, had sexually harassed the minor girl.
Following the complaint, police registered FIR No. 107/2026 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Police Station Tral and initiated an investigation.
Police said a team led by the in-charge of Police Post Aripal carried out the investigation and, using technical and human intelligence, established the alleged involvement of the accused. He was subsequently apprehended and arrested.
Further investigation is underway.
