Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir has been recognised as the Best Performing Union Territory under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) for achieving saturation of frontline workers with Ayushman Cards.
The award was conferred at Aarogya Manthan 2026 held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, during celebrations marking eight years of AB-PMJAY and five years of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
The award was received by Virender Kumar, Nodal Officer, State Health Agency (SHA), J&K, from Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda in the presence of senior officials of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, National Health Authority and other dignitaries.
According to an official statement, the recognition reflects the efforts of the State Health Agency, Chief Medical Officers, district teams, frontline health workers and field functionaries across Jammu and Kashmir in ensuring extensive coverage of frontline workers under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Officials said the achievement would further strengthen ongoing efforts to expand the reach of AB-PMJAY SEHAT and ensure that eligible beneficiaries across the Union Territory continue to receive healthcare benefits under the programme.
