SRINAGAR: The Wushu Association of Jammu and Kashmir has announced selection trials for the 25th Junior National Wushu Championship 2026, which will be held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, from October 28 to November 2.
According to a corrigendum issued by the association, the trials to select the J&K contingent will be conducted on September 29 and 30 at the Indoor Hall, Polo Ground, Srinagar.
Athletes from affiliated units have been invited to participate in both Taolu and Sanda disciplines. The association has asked affiliated units to send eligible and deserving athletes for the selection process.
A five-member selection committee has been constituted for the trials, headed by Dronacharya Awardee Kuldeep Handoo. Other members include National Judges Maqsood Rather and Kamal Kishore, and international players Ajaz Hassan and Munazah Gazi.
The association said the final contingent will be selected on the basis of performance and eligibility during the trials.
The selected team is scheduled to leave for Chennai on October 25 to participate in the national championship.
Officials said the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council will organise a coaching camp for the selected athletes in Jammu or Srinagar in accordance with its norms and guidelines.
