BANDIPORA: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Indu Kanwal Chib on Friday reviewed preparations for the third edition of the BSF Wular Ultra Run 2026, scheduled to be held on October 4 under the theme “Save Wular, Run With Bordermen.”
The event is being organised by the Border Security Force (BSF) under the aegis of Frontier Headquarters BSF Kashmir and aims to promote fitness, community engagement and tourism in the Valley.
According to officials, the ultra run will feature four categories — 50 km, 25 km, 10.5 km and 5 km — with routes covering various stretches around Bandipora and Wular Vantage Park.
At a meeting held at the Mini Secretariat, officials reviewed arrangements related to route management, security, traffic regulation, medical preparedness, hydration facilities, sanitation, accommodation, fire and emergency response, cultural programmes, cleanliness, beautification and publicity.
Chib directed departments concerned to coordinate closely with BSF and other stakeholders to complete arrangements ahead of the event. She asked the Chief Medical Officer to convene a meeting of medical staff and ensure preparedness of hospitals and emergency medical services.
Officials were instructed to establish adequate medical and hydration points and portable toilets along the race routes. The Deputy Commissioner also stressed the need for fire and emergency response measures, including deployment of personnel and equipment at critical locations.
She directed the District Information Officer to publicise the event widely and disseminate traffic advisories through print, electronic and other media platforms to inform the public about diversions and related arrangements.
The meeting also discussed accommodation and transportation facilities for participants, sanitation measures along the routes and venue, beautification works and cultural programmes planned for the event.
Senior officers of the BSF, Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Army, civil administration and other departments attended the meeting.
