SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Friday directed officials to resolve pending infrastructure and utility issues to facilitate the rollout of healthcare services at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Awantipora, by October 31.
Chairing a review meeting, Garg assessed the status of key requirements for operationalising the institute, including electricity supply for the water supply system, commissioning of a dedicated power sub-station, land-related matters and fire safety clearances.
Officials discussed issues affecting the institute’s operational readiness, particularly the availability of power for running the water supply system. The Divisional Commissioner directed the Public Health Engineering Department and Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) to resolve inter-departmental issues by Monday and ensure electricity supply to the system.
To facilitate commissioning of the dedicated power sub-station, Garg directed KPDCL to issue the required No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) at the earliest to enable uninterrupted power supply to the institute.
He also asked the Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, to assist CPWD engineers in resolving land-related issues linked to the facility.
The Deputy Commissioner was further directed to arrange transport facilities for the public up to the entrance of AIIMS Awantipora to improve access to the hospital.
On fire safety certification, Garg instructed the concerned departments to conduct a joint inspection of the facility and complete the process for issuance of the NOC by October 5.
The meeting was attended by the Executive Director of AIIMS Awantipora, Senior Superintendent of Police Traffic, and officials and engineers from the Public Health Engineering Department, KPDCL and various wings of the CPWD.
