ANANTNAG: A 70-year-old man died on Wednesday, a day after he was injured after being hit by a motorcycle at Achabal Chowk in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said.
The accident occurred on Monday morning when a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AV-4666 allegedly hit Ghulam Hassan Rangraz, 70, a resident of Shelipora, Achabal.
The motorcycle was being ridden by 19-year-old Asif Bilal, son of Bilal Ahmad Naikoo, also presently residing in Shelipora, officials said. Both the rider and pedestrian sustained injuries and were initially taken to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Achabal for treatment.
Rangraz was later referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, where he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, officials said.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the accident.
