SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government has undertaken restoration and maintenance works on roads damaged by landslides, floods and other natural causes to ensure traffic connectivity, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary informed the Legislative Assembly on Thursday.
Replying to a Calling Attention Motion moved by MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia during the Autumn Session, Choudhary said the government was closely monitoring the condition of affected roads through field agencies and had sanctioned permanent restoration works at several locations.
He said restoration works worth ₹47.99 lakh on the 11-km Nagulta-Razar Part-I road, completed in January 2024, were about 75 per cent complete.
For the 12.7-km Nagulta-Razar Part-II stretch, completed in October 2022, an estimate of ₹35.29 lakh has been prepared for restoration of damages sustained during 2026-27. He added that restoration works worth ₹95.73 lakh, sanctioned for flood-related damages during 2025-26, were already 70 per cent complete.
The Deputy Chief Minister informed the House that restoration works amounting to ₹35.19 lakh on the 17-km Gujad-Chirdi road, completed in December 2021, were about 90 per cent complete.
Regarding the 20.7-km Narsoo-Thanidhar road, completed in June 2023, Choudhary said restoration works worth ₹31.99 lakh sanctioned for damages caused by the 2025-26 floods had been completed.
He said regular clearance of landslides and road slips was also being carried out wherever required to maintain connectivity and minimise inconvenience to the public.
