SRINAGAR: Police in Anantnag arrested four drug peddlers in two separate incidents and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesman said that two persons identified as Ruhail Ahmad Shah of Naibasti Khanbal, and Daniyal Ismail Bhat of Pehru Iqbalabad, were arrested at Sarnal after two grams of heroin was recovered from them.
Shahid Hussain of Barkhera Kund, Uttar Pradesh, and Bablu from Barkhera Kalan, Uttar Pradesh, were arrestrd at GB Khalil Naina Sangam, after approximately 147 grams of cannabis was recovered from their possession.
During checking on Qazigund–Dalwach Road near Dooru Crossing, police intercepted a car (JK01BA-5293) and recovered 15 grams of heroin-like substance from the driver-side door pocket. The driver, identified as Saqib Latief Dagga of Maharaj Gunj, Srinagar, was arrested and a case registered under Sections 8/21 NDPS Act at Police Station Qazigund, police spokesman informed.
