SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday reported separate actions against illegal mining activities in Pulwama and Baramulla districts, resulting in the seizure of four tractors and two motors allegedly used for unauthorised extraction of minerals.
In Awantipora, police said a team from Police Post Reshipora detected illegal mining activities during routine patrolling in the Kawani and Dogripora areas. Four tractors allegedly involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals were seized.
Meanwhile, in Baramulla district, police conducted an early-morning raid in Jahama and seized two motors allegedly being used for illegal sand extraction.
Police said action under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act has been initiated in the Baramulla case, while further legal proceedings are underway.
Officials said the actions were part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal mining and unauthorised extraction of minerals across the Valley.
