SHOPIAN: The National Conference (NC) on Wednesday held a one-day convention of party workers and office-bearers in Shopian to discuss organisational matters and public issues facing the district.
The meeting, held at the Circuit House, was presided over by NC Additional General Secretary and Rajya Sabha member Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan. Provincial President Showkat Ahmed Mir, Zainapora MLA Showkat Hussain Ganie and other party leaders were also present.
According to the party, the convention focused on strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level, improving coordination among party workers and addressing issues concerning residents of Shopian.
Addressing the gathering, Ramzan said party workers played a key role in the organisation and urged them to maintain close contact with the public and raise people’s concerns before appropriate forums.
He also called for strengthening the party structure and enhancing outreach efforts. Referring to the NC-led government, Ramzan claimed that progress had been made in welfare and development initiatives and said the government’s priorities were guided by public welfare.
Speaking on the occasion, Showkat Mir said the party would continue to work for development and public welfare and urged office-bearers and workers to intensify organisational activities and engagement with the people.
The convention was organised by senior NC leader and former Shopian MLA Sheikh Mohammad Rafi.
