Srinagar: Srinagar Warriors Club emerged champions in both the men’s and women’s categories of the District Srinagar Softball Championship 2026-27, which concluded at the Gindun Sports Centre, Rajbagh, on Tuesday.
The championship was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council in collaboration with the District Srinagar Softball Association and witnessed participation from players representing various schools, colleges and clubs.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council member and former judoka Kabra Altaf attended the closing ceremony as chief guest. Incharge Manager of Gindun Sports Centre Dilbagh Singh and the Head of Department of Government Polytechnic College, Srinagar, were among the guests present on the occasion.
The tournament was conducted under the supervision of National Institute of Sports (NIS) Softball Coach Mohammad Iqbal Beigh.
Addressing the participants, Altaf congratulated the organisers for conducting the championship and encouraged athletes to work hard and strive for excellence in sports.
She also highlighted the role of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council in developing sports infrastructure and providing training facilities for athletes across the Union Territory.
The championship concluded with the distribution of medals and trophies among the winning, runner-up and third-placed teams.
The event was sponsored by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.
