SRINAGAR: Police on Sunday seized nine vehicles allegedly involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Shopian and Sopore districts, officials said.
According to police, the vehicles included two dumpers and seven tractors that were found transporting or extracting mining material without valid authorisation and in violation of prescribed norms.
In Sopore, police seized two vehicles during operations carried out in the jurisdictions of Police Station Panzalla and Police Post Fruit Mandi, officials said.
The vehicles were seized on the spot and multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered under relevant provisions of law at the concerned police stations, police said.
Further investigation into the cases is underway.
