NEW DELHI: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday attended a two-day conference on “Financing India’s Journey towards Viksit Bharat” organised by the Union Ministry of Finance in New Delhi.
Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the conference, which brought together chief ministers, deputy chief ministers, finance ministers, finance secretaries and senior officials from states and Union Territories with legislatures.
According to an official statement, the conference is focusing on financing challenges and policy priorities related to India’s development goals, while examining ways to strengthen fiscal cooperation between the Centre and the states.
The discussions are aimed at identifying financing strategies for sustainable and inclusive growth and exploring policy coordination on economic development issues.
The deliberations are also expected to examine potential financial pathways for Jammu and Kashmir, including areas such as macroeconomic growth, agricultural transformation and renewable energy development.
