Srinagar/Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday said it has registered three separate FIRs against officials of the Transport, Rural Development and Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) departments in connection with alleged disproportionate assets and corruption cases.

In Jammu, the ACB registered FIR No. 06/2026 under the Prevention of Corruption Act against Ashwani Kumar, an employee of the Motor Vehicles Department and a resident of Vinayak Nagar, Muthi, Jammu.

According to the ACB, the case stems from a verification into allegations that the official had acquired assets disproportionate to his known sources of income through alleged corrupt practices. The agency said the verification revealed the accumulation of movable and immovable assets, including shops, plots, flats and luxury vehicles, allegedly in his own name and in the names of family members.

The ACB said searches were conducted at the accused’s residence after obtaining warrants from the competent court, and material relevant to the investigation was collected. Further investigation is underway.

In another case, the ACB registered FIR No. 03/2026 at Police Station ACB Baramulla against Sheeba Inayat, JKAS, then Block Development Officer, Singhpora-Pattan, on allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to her known sources of income.

The agency alleged that the assets include substantial bank deposits, fixed deposits, insurance policies, jewellery and immovable properties, including a commercial shopping complex and plots of land in Baramulla, Gulmarg, Kreeri and Jammu.

According to the ACB, searches were conducted at her residential and office premises after obtaining court warrants, and documents and other material were seized. The investigation is in progress.

In a separate case, the ACB registered FIR No. 04/2026 against Sheeba Inayat, who had earlier served as Assistant Director, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (now FCS&CA), Baramulla, and Mohammad Shafi Rather, then a salesman in the department, along with other officials and private persons.

The case relates to alleged irregularities in the distribution of government food grains under the Public Distribution System between June 2013 and June 2015.

According to the ACB, a verification allegedly revealed diversion and misappropriation of food grains, discrepancies in distribution records, shortages of government stock, short remittance of revenue and alleged manipulation of beneficiary records. The agency claimed the alleged irregularities resulted in a loss of over ₹2.61 crore to the government exchequer.

The ACB said searches were carried out at the residential and office premises of the accused following court orders, and incriminating material was seized.

The agency said investigations in all three cases are continuing.
