According to police, Rather was allegedly involved in repeated offences related to the illicit trafficking of narcotic substances. Based on his alleged continued involvement in drug-related activities, the competent authority issued a detention order under the PIT-NDPS Act.

Police said the detention was aimed at preventing further involvement in narcotics trafficking.

Following the execution of the detention order, Rather was lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah, officials said.

Police said the anti-drug campaign would continue across the district to curb narcotics trafficking and related activities.
