Kulgam: MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the development of a playfield at Mohidal Panchayat in Mohipora, in the presence of local residents and officials.
The playfield is being developed by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Kulgam, at an estimated cost of ₹63 lakh, while the project is being executed by the PWD (R&B) Division Kulgam.
Speaking on the occasion, Tarigami highlighted the importance of creating adequate sports infrastructure for young people and said that developing playfields at the grassroots level would provide local youth with better opportunities to participate in sports and physical activities.
He stressed the need for quality and timely execution of the project so that the facility is made available to local youth at the earliest.
The playfield is expected to provide a dedicated sporting space for the youth of Mohidal Panchayat and adjoining areas, encouraging greater participation in sports and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
During the visit, Tarigami also interacted with local residents and listened to their grievances and developmental concerns. People from Mohipora and neighbouring villages raised various issues and sought timely intervention for their resolution.
Superintending Engineer, PWD (R&B) Circle Kulgam, Er Fayaz Ahmad Kar, and officers of the concerned departments were present on the occasion.
