SRINAGAR: J&K Bank has been conferred the ‘Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Overall Practices’ award at the 13th National CSR Leadership Congress & Awards, recognising its social development and community welfare initiatives across Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and other regions.
The award was presented at a function held at Taj MG Road, Bengaluru, where J&K Bank’s Zonal Head (Bengaluru), Shadab Mehboob, received the honour on behalf of the bank.
According to the bank, the recognition acknowledges its CSR interventions in areas such as healthcare, education, livelihood generation, environmental sustainability, disability inclusion and grassroots sports.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Amitava Chatterjee said the award reflected the institution’s efforts to undertake need-based social initiatives and expand support to underserved communities.
The bank said its CSR programme has focused on projects including cardiac and breast cancer screening programmes in underserved areas, solar-powered sanitation facilities, plantation drives, waste-management initiatives and community welfare measures.
Among its social outreach programmes, the bank highlighted support for affordable meal facilities for attendants of hospital patients, skill development initiatives and livelihood-generation programmes aimed at strengthening economic opportunities at the grassroots level.
The National Awards for Excellence in CSR & Sustainability recognise organisations that integrate social responsibility and sustainability into their institutional strategies and demonstrate measurable benefits for communities and the environment.
The award comes as J&K Bank continues to expand its CSR activities in sectors including healthcare, education, rural development, women empowerment, environmental protection and support for vulnerable communities, according to the bank.
