POONCH: The Inter-District Provincial-Level Table Tennis Championship for Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 boys and girls began at the Indoor Sports Stadium in Poonch on Friday, bringing together young players from districts across the Jammu division.
Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma inaugurated the tournament and interacted with participants, encouraging them to compete with discipline and sportsmanship.
Officials said the championship aims to provide young athletes with competitive exposure and an opportunity to showcase their talent at a higher level.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Mohammad Qasim said the event was being conducted in accordance with prescribed rules and sporting standards, with participation from players representing various districts.
The tournament will continue until September 19.
Meanwhile, the Department of Youth Services and Sports also conducted activities under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue in the district. Officials said around 2,379 people participated in anti-drug awareness activities, while about 327 registrations were recorded for the Young Leaders Dialogue initiative.
