BARAMULLA, Sept 11: Zone Pattan won the Inter-Zonal District-Level Under-17 Boys Football Championship after defeating Zone Sopore 1-0 in the final at Showkat Ali Stadium, Khawaja Bagh, on Friday.
Organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Baramulla, the tournament brought together young footballers from different zones of the district.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Baramulla, Mushtaq Ahmad Pampori, attended the closing ceremony and presented trophies to the winners and runners-up. He congratulated the players for their performance and sportsmanship during the championship.
Officials said the Inter-Zonal District-Level Under-19 Boys Football Championship will begin on Saturday at the same venue, with teams from various zones competing for the district title.
Meanwhile, the Inter-Zonal District-Level Handball Competition for Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 girls was held at the Indoor Stadium, Khawaja Bagh.
More than 100 girls participated in the event, which officials said reflected growing interest in sports among young athletes in the district.
