SRINAGAR: The second Union Territory-level Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting on narcotics control for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh was held at the Police Control Room here on Tuesday to review anti-drug enforcement measures and strengthen inter-agency coordination.
The meeting was jointly chaired by the Deputy Director General (North-West Region) of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Inspector General of Police, Crime/Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), J&K Police.
Senior officers from several enforcement and stakeholder agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Border Security Force (BSF), State Drug Controller, Intelligence Bureau (IB), Customs, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Income Tax Department and National Investigation Agency (NIA), attended the meeting. Senior Superintendents of Police from Jammu, Srinagar and Ganderbal districts also participated.
Officials reviewed enforcement initiatives and discussed emerging trends in drug trafficking, inter-state linkages, illicit cultivation, information-sharing mechanisms, joint investigations, financial probes and prosecution of narcotics-related cases.
The meeting also discussed implementation of the Vision Document on Drug Control (2026–2029), unveiled during the 10th apex-level meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) in New Delhi on June 26. Participants highlighted the need for a network-centric approach to tackling the drug menace.
Emphasis was laid on strengthening inter-agency coordination, conducting joint interrogations, enhancing financial investigations and making greater use of existing information-sharing mechanisms.
The meeting concluded with a call for continued cooperation among enforcement agencies and a coordinated approach to detect, disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking networks operating in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
