JAMMU: Filmmakers, producers and artists associated with Dogri cinema were felicitated by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar during events organised under the International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) at Wave Mall here on Tuesday.
The felicitation ceremony was held during a special screening of the film IKKIS, organised as part of the festival. Senior officials, members of the film fraternity, artists, students and representatives of various departments attended the event.
The Divisional Commissioner honoured filmmakers and artists for their contribution to the promotion of Dogri language, cinema and cultural heritage.
The occasion also recognised the contribution of several notable Dogri films, including Gallan Hoiyan Beetiya, regarded as the first Dogri feature film, as well as Maa Ni Mildi, Kuggi Maar Duaari, Reet, Geetian, Aau Aa Shinda, Shah Shani, Lakeer, Mehroom, Chann Mahi, Funtasiyan and Moj Masti.
Earlier in the day, a series of short films and feature films from India and abroad, selected by the festival jury, were screened for the public. The screenings attracted film enthusiasts and students, offering them exposure to a range of cinematic narratives and filmmaking styles.
The event was attended by DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Shridhar Patil, Director Census Operations J&K and Ladakh Amit Sharma, Joint Director Information Deepak Dubey and other senior officers.
The day’s programme concluded with cultural performances by Dogri singer Bishan Das, Romalo Ram and Party, along with other artists. The performances formed part of the festival’s efforts to showcase the cultural heritage and artistic traditions of the Jammu region alongside cinematic activities.
The first International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir is featuring film screenings, panel discussions, masterclasses and cultural events across multiple venues, bringing together filmmakers, artists, students and cinema enthusiasts from within and outside the Union Territory.
