SRINAGAR: Police in Awantipora and Sopore have arrested two persons each for their alleged complicity in cases of theft.
Acting on a complaint of theft of gold ornaments worth approximately ₹12 lakh from the residence of Muzzafar Ahmad Mohand of Sheerabad Bulli, Tral, police during the course of investigation apprehended two accused persons — Sajad Ahmad Mochi of Larkipora Padgampora, presently residing at Shaheed Park, Pulwama, and Amir Rashid Ganaie of Khulbagh Batagund.
On their disclosure, stolen gold ornaments worth approximately ₹4 lakh have been recovered so far. Further investigation is underway, and additional recoveries and arrests are expected, police said.
In Sopore also, investigating a case of theft of copper from a scrap workshop at Brath Crossing, police identified and apprehended the accused persons and recovered stolen scrap from their possession, police spokesperson said.
The accused have been identified as Mehraj-ud-Din Malla and Irfan Ahmad Dar, both residents of Mehrajpora, Sopore. Further investigation is underway, police said.
