SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed the IIT (BHU) Global Alumni Meet in Chicago, Illinois, on Monday, where he highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in economic growth and stressed the need for its ethical and responsible use.
Addressing the gathering, Sinha said artificial intelligence has the potential to drive economic development by combining human capabilities with machine intelligence. He emphasised that AI should remain anchored in ethics, core values and human oversight to ensure that technological advancement serves society’s broader interests.
The Lieutenant Governor also paid tribute to Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, describing him as a visionary whose contributions helped advance engineering education and industrial development in India. He said Malaviya’s ideals continue to inspire efforts aimed at technological progress and nation-building.
Speaking about India’s development trajectory, Sinha said the country was emerging as a stronger and more confident global player while advancing technological innovation and social welfare initiatives.
Referring to Jammu and Kashmir, he said the region had witnessed significant changes in recent years and highlighted ongoing development and investment initiatives.
The Lieutenant Governor also recalled Swami Vivekananda’s address in Chicago in 1893 and acknowledged the contributions of the Indian diaspora and IIT (BHU) alumni to various fields globally.
He urged members of the alumni association to contribute to India’s growth through mentorship, institutional partnerships, investment and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
