Dhaka: India and Bangladesh on Monday discussed a wide range of topics in bilateral ties and agreed to “work together with a forward-looking approach, based on mutual trust and mutual benefit.”
Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi met the Prime Minister’s adviser Md Ismail Jabiullah here and discussed people-to-people ties between the two countries.
“People-to-people relations form the foundation of bilateral relations, and emphasis was placed on this matter in the discussions,” the Indian High Commission posted on X.
The Indian mission said that the two diplomats discussed a wide range of issues concerning India-Bangladesh relations.
“Optimism was expressed that the two sovereign countries will continue to work together with a forward-looking approach, based on mutual trust and mutual benefit,” it said.
Trivedi also met Bangladesh’s Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Abdul Awal Mintoo, and State Minister Shaikh Faridul Islam.
“They discussed the progress of bilateral cooperation mechanisms in the areas of wildlife conservation and habitat protection, as well as opportunities to further strengthen cooperation on transboundary pollution, waste management, and other environmental issues of mutual interest,” the Indian mission said.
In recent weeks, Trivedi has held a series of meetings with top political leaders of Bangladesh, including Prime Minister Rahman, underlining the need to create a conducive environment to further advance ties.
