Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Sakeena Itoo on Saturday said the government will bring a resolution on the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) during the upcoming session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
The announcement was made during Teachers’ Day celebrations held at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, where the minister addressed teachers, students, educationists and officials of the School Education Department.
According to an official statement, Itoo said the government was aware of concerns being raised by teachers and aspiring educators and was committed to addressing them through institutional mechanisms.
Referring to the TET issue, she said the government would bring a resolution in the forthcoming Assembly session and examine concerns related to the matter through the appropriate process.
The minister said the government remains committed to strengthening the education sector by improving school infrastructure, enhancing the quality of education and ensuring access to learning opportunities across Jammu and Kashmir.
She also stressed the need for innovative teaching methods, greater use of technology and a stronger focus on the holistic development of students.
Itoo called on teachers to encourage creativity, critical thinking and ethical values among students and highlighted the importance of cooperation between teachers, parents and communities in supporting children’s development.
The minister also acknowledged the services of teachers working in remote and difficult areas, stating that they had played a key role in ensuring continuity of education despite geographical and logistical challenges.
During the event, the minister felicitated 20 teachers and educationists from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir for their contributions to the education sector.
Director School Education Kashmir Naseer Ahmad Wani, in his address, highlighted the role of teachers in promoting an informed and progressive society, while senior officials of the education department and students also attended the function.
The announcement on TET is expected to be closely watched by aspiring teachers and candidates seeking clarity on issues related to teacher recruitment and eligibility in Jammu and Kashmir.
