LEH: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct interviews in Leh for candidates shortlisted for 125 Medical Officer posts in the Health and Medical Education Department of Ladakh from September 21 to 25, 2026.

The decision follows a request made by Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena to the UPSC on July 13, seeking that interviews be conducted in Ladakh instead of requiring candidates to travel to New Delhi.

According to officials, the UPSC has agreed to conduct the interviews in Leh as a special case and will constitute two parallel interview boards, each comprising a president and two advisors. Five UPSC officials will also be deputed to facilitate and manage the interview process.

The UPSC has asked the Union Territory administration to make logistical arrangements, including interview rooms, office space, waiting areas for candidates, facilities for document verification, a frisking area, reception facilities and stable internet connectivity for face authentication.

Officials said the decision is expected to reduce travel-related expenses and logistical difficulties for candidates from Ladakh, who would otherwise have been required to travel to Delhi for the interview process.

The recruitment is being conducted for gazetted Medical Officer posts in the Health and Medical Education Department of the Union Territory of Ladakh.
