Srinagar: The Higher Education Department has announced Phase-II of undergraduate admissions for the 2026-27 academic session in Government Degree Colleges across Jammu and Kashmir, with the registration process set to begin on September 1 through the centralised admission portal.
According to an official notification, the admission process is open to students who qualified the biannual, supplementary or private Class 12 examinations of 2026 conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) and other recognised boards.
Admissions will be processed through the department’s centralised online portal, jkadmissions.in.
Officials said vacant seats will be filled through two parallel modes — in-person counselling and walk-in admissions. The detailed schedule for registration, choice-filling, counselling and admissions has been made available on the admission portal.
Besides fresh pass-outs of the biannual examinations, candidates who registered during Phase-I but could not secure admission, those who were allotted seats but failed to complete admission formalities, and applicants whose forms were rejected during verification will also be eligible to participate, subject to fulfilment of prescribed conditions.
However, candidates who have already confirmed their admission during Phase-I, as well as those who subsequently cancelled a confirmed admission, will not be eligible for participation in Phase-II.
Fresh applicants will have to submit their applications online and pay a non-refundable application fee of ₹200. The department has advised candidates to verify their mobile numbers and email addresses on the portal to ensure they receive admission-related updates and communications.
Students have also been advised to review vacancy positions available on the portal and submit a sufficient number of programme preferences while exploring available course options. Facilitation and counselling centres established in degree colleges will provide assistance for registration and choice-filling.
Director Colleges J&K, Dr Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, appealed to eligible students who cleared the biannual examination to complete the admission process within the notified schedule. He also advised aspirants to regularly check the admission portal and follow the department’s official WhatsApp channel for updates, notices and admission schedules.
According to the notification, the Phase-II admission process will conclude on September 10, after which no admissions will be entertained.
