KUPWARA: Advisor to Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani on Thursday visited the remote Moorie area in Kalaroose of Lolab subdivision to assess development needs and review issues affecting local residents.

Accompanied by senior officials from various departments, the Advisor visited Sona Pend village, where several houses and a mosque were damaged in a recent cloudburst. Interacting with affected families, he said the government had announced special assistance for restoration and rehabilitation of the affected households and damaged infrastructure.

During the visit, Wani also inspected the site identified near Lastiyal Bridge in Kasba Kalaroose for the proposed construction of a sports stadium. He directed the Executive Engineer of the Sports Council to initiate work on the project within a week.

The Advisor met several public delegations from the area, who raised issues related to road connectivity, drinking water supply, ration distribution and other civic amenities. He assured them that their genuine grievances would be taken up with the concerned departments for early resolution.

Emphasising the need to focus on remote and underserved areas, Wani directed officers to prioritise developmental works and ensure their timely completion, particularly in view of the approaching winter season.

He also toured several villages and hamlets, including Sona Pend Gali, Narizeb, Ladah, Kothiyan, Nagsri, Thayan Gujran and Moorie, to assess local development requirements.

Earlier, the Advisor chaired a review meeting at Sogam, where he sought feedback from officials on the progress of ongoing development projects and issues requiring immediate attention.

Senior officers from various departments, including the Additional Chief Development Officer, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Assistant Director Food and Executive Engineer of the Sports Council, attended the meeting.
