BANDIPORA: Youmi Shaban was observed at Kunan Bagund in Bandipora district on Wednesday to commemorate the life, spiritual legacy and literary contributions of noted Sufi poet and saint Muhammad Shaban.
The programme was organised by the Bazm-e-Shaban Literary Forum under the patronage of Adbi Markaz Kamraz in collaboration with the Department of Information and Public Relations, Bandipora, and the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
The event featured literary discussions and scholarly presentations focusing on the relevance of Sufi thought and the role of Sufi saints in shaping Kashmir’s cultural and literary heritage.
A Gram Lok session organised by the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, was also held, providing a platform for poets from different villages to present their literary works.
Among those present were Adbi Markaz Kamraz President Mohammad Amin Bhat, Vice-President Shakir Shafi, writer and scholar Mehtab Manzoor, Kashmir Philosophical Foundation Patron Mir Tariq, Sahitya Akademi member Majeed Majazi, besides scholars, writers, poets and devotees of Sufi literature.
