SOPORE: Security forces on Monday recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from an abandoned house in the Manzseer area of Sopore during a joint search operation, officials said.
The operation was carried out by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K Police along with personnel of 52 Rashtriya Rifles and the CRPF’s 177 and 179 battalions in the jurisdiction of Police Station Tarzoo.
Officials said the arms and ammunition were recovered during searches of the abandoned structure. The recovered material was seized and taken into custody, while a case has been registered and further investigation has been initiated.
Authorities said efforts are underway to ascertain the source and ownership of the recovered arms and ammunition.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sopore, Iftkhar Talib, confirmed the recovery and said further investigation is in progress.
