KUNZER: Dhobiwan defeated Hardu-Bani in the final to win the Goodluck Champions Trophy cricket tournament at Kunzer Cricket Ground on Sunday.
MLA Gulmarg Farooq Ahmad Shah attended the final as chief guest and felicitated the players and organisers at the conclusion of the tournament.
Congratulating the winning team, Shah appreciated both finalists for their performance and sportsmanship. He said sports provide a constructive platform for youth and help promote discipline, teamwork and leadership qualities.
The MLA also commended the organisers for conducting the tournament and encouraging participation of local sporting talent. He called for greater involvement of youth in sports activities at the grassroots level and assured support for sports-related initiatives in the constituency.
During the event, organisers and local youth highlighted ongoing efforts to improve sports infrastructure in the area, including upgradation of playgrounds at Chichilora, Tangmarg and Shrai, and installation of high-mast lights at the Kunzer playground. They also noted that several other playgrounds across the constituency are being upgraded.
The tournament concluded with prize distribution and felicitation of players, organisers and other contributors.
